A BIT ABOUT KYLEE

MAJOR: Agricultural Communications

MINORS: Food Safety + Meat Science

HOMETOWN: Litchfield, Minnesota

BACKGROUND: My family and I raise show quality beef cattle and market lambs in central Minnesota.

SDSU INVOLVEMENT: Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow, Agriculture Future of America (AFA), Block & Bridle - PREXY council representative, CAFES Ambassador, Little International, National Agri-Marketing Association (NAMA)

FUN FACT: Both of my parents served as Ag-Bio Ambassadors when they were students at SDSU, and now I am a second generation Jackrabbit and CAFES Ambassador.

FUTURE GOALS: Upon graduating from SDSU in May 2020, I plan to work in industry for a meat company, agency, or commodity group connecting producers with consumers to fill the communication and trust gaps between farm and fork, I potentially see myself back in a university setting advising fellow passionate agriculturalists to find their place in our industry, or becoming an entrepreneur focusing on agricultural storytelling and youth leadership development.

COMMUNICATE. COLLABORATE.

ADVOCATE.

As the CAFES Student Advocate, I will consistently seek new opportunities to bridge the gap between clubs and the student body such as starting a CAFES podcast featuring members of CAFES organizations to share updates and projects, creating a monthly newsletter, writing a column for The Collegian, and advancing our social media presence.

Serving alongside the other Prexy council officers, I also look forward to assisting in planning Ag Day and other CAFES events to further student involvement.

From production to consumption, growing up in the agriculture community has taught me the power of sharing our transparent story at all levels, as well as the importance of fostering relationships to build bridges between producer and consumer, student and industry leader.

Sharing my passion for South Dakota State University, alongside my values of integrity, professional commitment, and a desire to grow, I am honored to accept the SDSU CAFES Student Advocate position by the Agriculture Communicators of Tomorrow and Block & Bridle organizations.

Effective and efficient communication is crucial in today's world. My passions for agriculture and SDSU, along with the communication and leadership skills I possess, allow me to effectively communicate with peers, faculty, and information-seeking public of all ages and backgrounds at any time through social media outlets, publications and face-to-face interactions.
